Polytechnic Institute of NYU Fall Convocation
WHY
Presidents Jerry M. Hultin of Polytechnic Institute of NYU and John Sexton of New York University together with Polytechnic Chairman of the Board Ralph Alexander and the Board of Trustees of NYU-Poly join Governor David A. Paterson in celebrating and introducing the first academic year for Polytechnic Institute of NYU (formerly Polytechnic University), now an affiliate of New York University.
The NYU-Poly community has embraced an academic vision based on i²e – invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship. As a technology-focused institution in a city rich in resources and opportunities, NYU-Poly is creating change in three key areas: 1) the global information economy, 2) health and wellness, and 3) urban systems.
Among the highlights since the affiliation between Polytechnic Institute of NYU and New York University are:
- Total enrollment for Fall 2008 has increased by over 650 students.
- The average SAT of current full-time freshmen has increased by 40 points over Fall 2007 freshmen.
- Polytechnic Institute of NYU is New York City’s most comprehensive school of engineering, applied sciences, technology and research, and is rooted in a 154-year tradition of leadership in innovation, invention and entrepreneurship.
